Being Joyful through Corruption…Housing Market.

by C3 Analyst Team | Aug 31, 2023 | Content | 0 comments

Hello C3 Family!

Housing Market Bubble?!

This video of the week features a pretty pessimistic view of the housing market that I
tend to agree with. I think that I may even be more pessimistic given the coming interest rate hikes and the state of the auto lending industry.

The first 5 minutes is all I recommend watching.

Stories of the Week

The Joy that can come out of Corruption.

If you are an avid listener to economic or political podcasts and a voracious reader of journals with the same focus, then you are probably getting a lot of doom and
gloom in your content diet. Average car payments are up to $700/month, interest rates are crazy high, inflation isn’t cooling as fast as people would like, and housing seems completely unaffordable for the vast majority of us. All this seems to be due to either incompetence or corruption. However, I am here to tell you that there is Joy to be taken out of all of this bleakness.

We know that money begets power and power usually begets corruption. It is why we are always skeptical of the wealthy and the powerful. But as we Christians know; the Truth always reigns supreme, and God can bring out miraculous good even from the worst
evils.

Take the 2008 housing crash for example. Back then lenders were giving out loans to anyone who walked in the door and then some. Now, even though
some numbers are even worse than 2008, lenders and buyers are looking at household income with more scrutiny. This is why the above video says that there will not be as many foreclosures in the upcoming crash as there were in the 2008 crash. Looking more closely at household income seems like common sense but humanity always needs to be reminded in serious ways to utilize our common sense.

My point is this, Through the bad times our Lord gives us the chance to reshape things. Sometimes we reshape things for the better and sometimes we do the opposite. We will never get it all 100% correct because we are flawed human beings, but we can take
joy in the fact that God is giving us a chance to reshape things for the better. And He will keep giving us these chances.

You can either despair when you see
corruption and live through bad times, or you can view it as an opportunity and do the work with Joy in your heart because you know that
our Savior lives and the battle is already won.

Quick Hitters

The most notable are highlighted in RED

  • Stocks started to tick up this week as investors are hoping to end a mostly negative August on a positive note.
  • Tech giants are looking to
build a new city in Solano County, California. $800 million in land is being purchased. The new city, if it comes to fruition, will likely raise the cost of living significantly for CA residents who are already overburdened. But Tech giant billionaires need there worker bees.
  • Trumps
Trials is set to take place right before Super Tuesday when several states hold primary voting. One day a great movie will be made about the 8-year long war between the Deep State and the Donald. Maybe it should be more of a limited series?
  • Category 3 hurricane Idalia is
expected to hit Florida’s west coast. As a country we should all be praying for those at risk in FL.
  • Foreign investment in China has plunged to a 25-year low. As the US/The West continue to cut more ties with China, expect conflict to arise.
  • China has many economic woes at the moment; dwindling exports, terrible consumer spending numbers, record high youth unemployment, and a struggling real estate sector. This may seem like good news, but China may become desperate, and this could incentivize them to act on Taiwan, which has huge economic
    upside.
  • Google says flights for Thanksgiving and Christmas will be cheapest in October.
  • Silicon Valley Tech workers are using Marijuana, Shrooms, and MDMA drugs at far higher rates than the rest of American work forces. Yet, 44% of 19–30-year-olds overall have used some kind of mind-altering drug in the last 12 months. The reason given for most as to why they use, stress.
  • France is about to spend over $200M to destroy 80 million gallons of wine. Why this tragedy? because demand in France for wine has gone way way way down over the last 100 years and France wine makers did not account for the downturn.
  • Zillow is offering a 1% down payment option for some homes because of the affordability crisis provoked all the going Ons of the real estate market.
  • The American people are spending hundreds of millions of dollars on event-cations. The
biggest winners as of late are MGM, WWE and pop stars like Taylor Swift and Beyonce. Losers are regular beach towns and amusement parks.
  • Cypto is taking another hit in the form of legal action by the DOJ. two developers have been sanctioned for allegedly helping facilitate $1B in money laundering
    that helped North Korea hackers.
  • US household debt is at a record high.
  • Investors think the fed will keep rate hikes around for a little longer and this sent the 10-year treasury yield to its highest level in 16 years.
